Attractions and Days Out in Cornwall

The Lizard Point in Cornwall is the most southerly part of England, a soaring collection of cliffs and rock pinnacles stretching down to turbulent seas where it is believed more human lives have been lost in shipwrecks than on any other part of the Cornish Coast.

Land’s End is the furthest point west on mainland England set at the end of the Penwith Peninsula, a place steeped in ancient folklore and legends and rich in pre-historic remains. The peninsula is only five miles wide and it is possible to walk from the gale swept Atlantic Coast to sheltered coves in the south where palm trees and other sub-tropical plants thrive in a little over an hour.

The northern coastline of Cornwall from Trevose Head in the north past Newquay and to St. Agnes in the south follows a fixed pattern of black headlands separated by golden beaches a vista repeated over and over. Depending on the day the beaches can be glorious sun traps or great places to surf with white-crested Atlantic rollers breaking onto the beaches and many days both are true.

Southern Cornwall benefits from an exceptionally mild climate reminiscent of much of the Mediterranean, its pretty coves, superb views and fishing villages make it a popular tourist destination all year round. Falmouth is the most popular destination noted for its superb setting and bay, great beaches, cliff top walks, yachting and many other water sports.
